What do I take on a Surf Trip?
So with the Crew's Annual Surf trip coming up in a couple months I thought I would share our checklist with you. Its important to have essential things with you when being so far from home and also not forgetting anything, like that spare set of fins for that 4ft drainer that runs the reef so dry you clip the reef with a fin and snap or rip it out!! One situation I've had with fins is having them so tight it actually ripped my fin along with the fin box right out, completly destroying my entire board (best excuse for my new Jdub 6'0 quad fish).Anyway!! Back to the subject at hand, Surf Trip Checklist.
Surf Gear and Essentials
- Surfboards - 2 minimum
- Spare set of Fins
- Spare fin key and fin screws - get a quality one!! ive ruined so many cheap ones and been stuck with finless boards.
- Spare leash
- Two bars of wax
- Wax comb
- Wetsuit
- Towel - Those new hooded surf towels are epic, the ones you wear.
- NZ Surfing Guide book (The Bible)
- Camera with good size memory card and charger.
- Smartphone and charger so you can stay up-to-date with swell reports (also incase you break down *touch wood*)
- Laptop and charger. I use an old beat-up one so i dont have to worry about breaking it or it being pinched. Also one with a SD memory card reader is a bonus because you wont drain your camera battery when wanting to view footage.
- First Aid Kit - those small compact glovebox style ones will do it.
- Deep heat and Voltaren for pulled muscles
- Panadol
